Why Call of Duty 5 failed before the first hurdle

1) Treyarch are making it, the same fools behind such favourites as Call of duty 3 and... well you can see where this is going, cant you?

2) Its WW2. What... The... Fuck...? Are they mental? Cant they see how popular CoD4 is? Do they not realise that perhaps, people no longer wish to relive WW2? You know, if you take the length of all the WW2 games, its longer than the actual war!!! Trufax!!!

3) Activision do not seem to care. If they did, surely they would either have canned this crappy alternation between developers rubbish or have used their influence as publisher to say "No. No more WW2! No! No! No!"

4) Its coming to the PS2 and the Wii. What does this tell us about a) the target demographic? b) The quality of the game (not necessarily, but likely)

5) Even if it turns out OK, people like Call of Duty 4! And as we all know, gamers are a funny bunch about loyalty and fanboyism. CoD5 will never be accepted. If it turns out ok then it will be allowed into the family as a son. Not a favourite son of course (CoD4 anyone?), more the weedy son that will never come to anything but your own blood none-the-less!

Feb. 4 Goodness

  1. Treyarch's James Bond game is not based on the upcoming Bond film Quantum of Solace but instead is an original Bond story.
  2. Eight Days is still in development and will be at E3 this year.
  3. Sony has pushed development of The Getaway 3 to the side given the release of this small indie game called GTAIV and Sony wanting to push Infamous as their big sandbox game of 2008.
  4. I hope you get more sleep Surfer Girl.

Hello Surfer Girl

My thoughts on SG are a bit mixed. While I do think "she" does have some connections in the industry I think most of the time her posts are just filled with logical guesses or old rumors changed around a bit.

For a laugh let's analyze some of her recent posts:

1) Facebreaker is the successor to Fight Night (it did start as a Fight Night Round 4/Fight Night 08, but evolved into something more unique), but do not fear as it is does not disregard the strong gameplay of its predecessor. Unlike the terrible Prizefighter, all people who have made significant contributions to Facebreaker are actually getting paid and are credited.

This isn't true. FN4 is still in the works under EA Canada. Why would they dump a valuable property for a new one when they can cover two aspects of the sports market and have the boxing genre on lock?

2) Resistance 2 trailer next month (you are probably reading this in February, so later this month), as well seeing the game (which looks amazing) in action in non-trailer form.

Didn't she say Resistance wasn't looking that hot at one time? I guess seeing those pics in Game Informer changed her mind. And should we be surprised that we're going to see Resistance 2 media this month considering that GDC is upon us and that's where Resistance: FOM had it's premier in playable form?

3) Yes, Onimusha 5 is coming out next year for PS360. So are Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2.

OMG you're telling me Capcom is going to follow up two of the biggest next-gen games with sequels!?!? And Capcom is going to release a new Onimusha perhaps in time with the release of the live-action film? I think we all knew these games were going to happen at some point, it's just a matter of whether they're coming out in 2009 or 2010.

5) Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow and God of War: Chains of Olympus will appear on PS2 by the end of the year.

she should really try harder.

6) Sony Bend has another PSP Syphon Filter title for the fall, storyline ties into some game coming out next year (SF PS3).

Another massive revealtion none of us knew until SG told us. rolleyes.gif. Perhaps she should be interested to know that SF PS3 is going to be the first major game on the console to feature episodic content.

Hemingway got something right...

For John Edwards - "Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee"

With Edwards gone, its a two horse race for the Democratic (and thus presidential) leadership. And as we all know, a vote for Clinton is a vote for failure... Obama MUST win. Go down to your local Democrat party headquarters and get involved!

Or dont, whatever... Just vote for him in the elections, m'kay?

Jan. 31 Goodness

  1. Too bad that EA canceled Road Rash, especially considering that EA Europe, more notably, Criterion was developing the game.
  2. With films based on video games still being popular it seems that Fox Atomic, the brand of Fox films geared towards teens and young adults, is taking a stab in the genre with the plans for a Grand Theft Auto film in the works.
  3. The main reason behind the delays for Free Radical's Haze is that besides the game being a bit meh the studio is pulling staff members from Haze to work on Star Wars Battlefront 3 which is scheduled for a holiday 2008 release.

Hello

With the popularity of SurferGirl's blog I've decided to start my own and share my inside secrets of the gaming industry. Now I know that alot of people out there think SG is full of crap and is just using old rumors and passing them off as new but I do think SG does have a few inside sources. This is why I've decided to start my own blog. It should be noted that I do not work in the gaming industry directly but work in a profession close to it, and no it's not as a journalist like many think SG does. So I hope you find the blog to be interesting as I have some interesting rumors and details to share with you all.
